April 2008 - Flooring Contract Award 

Western Civil Engineers have secured a £0.5m concrete flooring contract in Sheffield.

The contract to provide complete concrete flooring installation was awarded by Ocon Construction ltd, on their landmark student accommodation project at  Shalesmoor, Sheffield.

The contract is expected to be completed within a 6 month timescale and will run alongside the current groundworks package, which Western Civil Engineers are providing on the site.

March 2008 - Cudworth Medical Centre   

Western Civil Engineers enter spring 2008 by securing several key contracts. One of these contracts is to provide the groundworks package on the new NHS Medical Centre at Cudworth.

The medical centre is being developed as part of the LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) scheme, which will also see the development of a new centre at Grimethorpe.

Commenting on the contract award, Brian Gaughan Managing Director at Western Civil Engineers said;

"As with every contract award, we will be working tirelessly to provide quality and value for money to our client, during all stages of the contract."

Western Civil Engineers will provide the general groundworks package including excavations, foundations and drainage works.

Jan 2008 - Accommodation contract award adds to Western's expanding portfolio.

Western Civil Engineers have opened 2008 by securing a £1m (STG) groundworks package on a new £34m mixed-use scheme to provide 1,000 student apartments in Shalesmoor, Sheffield.

The scheme will be seen as yet another enhancement to the Sheffield city centre area, which has seen major restructuring and investment over recent years. The development at Hoyle Street, will transform the dilapidated and disused site with a mixture of residential, office and retail uses - including around 1,000 student apartments.

Western Civil Engineers will be undertaking a range of general and specialist groundworks including Construction of reinforced concrete foundations, drainage, groundworks etc

Commenting on the award, Brian Gaughan (Managing Director) said: "This contract award is seen as a reflection of the hard work and commitment to providing quality and value to our client, Ocon Construction Ltd.

The smooth & safe running, organisation and compliance with program will be critical to the success of this project, as there is a strict completion deadline for the new 2008/2009 academic term. We will be monitoring progress and working closely with our supply chain to ensure that any possible delays are identified and dealt with before they occur.

Western Civil Engineers view this contract award as a solid stepping stone towards being Yorkshire's number 1 sub contract provider of groundworks services."

Nov 2007 - New Contract cements Western, commitment to a health future.

Western Civil Engineers Ltd have secured the contract to undertake the  groundworks and drainage package on the new Askern Primary Care Centre. The new centre is part of a £22m investment by Doncaster Primary Care Trust.

Western Civil Engineers will be working for Morgan Ashurst, who are the principal contractor on the scheme.
